Neil O’Connor

Managing Director at Activity 

Neil founded Activity in 2004 in response to the demand for independent expert security advice.  With over twenty years experience in information security, Neil, who is a CLAS consultant, continues to provide IT strategy, security, risk and project and programme management advice as well as having a regular feature slot and ‘Ask the Expert’ position on searchsecurity.com. 

For fifteen years Neil was an information security consultant advising clients such as the Ministry of Defence, Foreign & Commonwealth Office, NHS and a number of commercial clients.  He fast became an expert in the management of information security and the implementation of ISO 27001 and is an ISO 27001 auditor. 

In 1995 Neil began working for BT before establishing Claritas, an information security consultancy which was sold to Diagonal plc in 2001, forming part of Diagonal Security, for whom Neil was Technical Director until 2004.

In his spare time, Neil enjoys piloting his plane and flying to his cottage in France with his wife Elaine.  They also spend time together sailing, having recently completed their Day Skipper course and purchased a Moody 31 sailing yacht.  Neil is also a keen walker and photographer.
