Wireless Security Assessment (WSA)

Service Description

A wireless security assessment is a full assessment of a wireless infrastructure implementation that identifies potential vulnerabilities with the security mechanisms in place to protect the wireless network and subsequently any internal wired networks against unauthorised access and the ability of those security mechanisms to maintain access control for authorised users. The wireless security assessment provides insight into methods of attack against specific wireless infrastructure components, the likely hood of exploitation and contextualised view of the level of risk to the network(s).

Experienced Activity consultants are able to provide a client with an evaluation of the security of their wireless network and the supporting infrastructure against best practice criteria as well as government and industry standards.

A Wireless Security Assessment differs from a Wireless Penetration Test in that it is broader in focus and aims to assess all of the devices within a wireless network. A Wireless Penetration Test is narrower in focus; the objective of the engagement is to assess the ability of an unauthenticated attacker to bypass the security mechanisms in place to protect the wireless network(s).

Both wireless assessments are similar in nature, but the Wireless Penetration Test aims to actively exploit vulnerabilities to gain access to sensitive data and systems; whereas a Wireless Security Assessment utilises active exploitation techniques to identify and validate all potential vulnerabilities across all systems within scope.
